Enfield Wine Co. was founded in 2010 by John Lockwood. Prior to that he had been working with some of California's top producers including Failla. Working with organic vineyards (in this case 3 located in the Sierra Foothills), John allows for all his wines to ferment naturally and does very little to interfere with the wine. Citrine has seen 12 months in oak; 7 of 8 barrels were 3rd use French-oak and 1 new barrel.
This Chardonnay is a wine of duality. There is a very crisp, mineral, flinty aspect to the wine with lashings of spice and honey and then, on the flip side, there is this ripe golden fruit with weight that drives this wine home.
